Pele hands Inter captain Bolivar the Copa Libertadores trophy

Vitorio Piffero was present for the draw for the 2011 Copa Libertadores, which was confirmed today in Asunción, Paraguay. Inter are set for some long journeys in their bid to defend their 2010 title, in what appears on paper, to be a relatively straight forward group.

Trips to both Bolivia and Ecuador await the Colorado, whilst a play off between Jaguares of Mexico and an unconfirmed Peruvian team will decide Inter’s final opponents in Group 6 of the competition.

A brief look at their opponents:

Jorge Wilstermann, BOL
Winners of the Bolivian Apertura championship, the Cochabamba based club should not cause Inter too many difficulties.

Ecuador 2
Ecuadorian powerhouses Emelec and LDU Quito have both qualified for the national final where the runner’s up will be awarded a place in Group 6.

Jaguares – MEX
Inter will be expecting their good record against Mexican opposition to continue when they face Jaguares, who qualify for the Libertadores after their sixth place league finish. Former Grêmio icon Everaldo previously played for the club.

Peru 3
A trip to Peruvian capital is guaranteed for Inter with either Universitario or Alianza Lima to be confirmed as Inter’s final opponents in the group, as the Peruvian league’s third best team.

Hello Matt! It is good to see that you’re back on action!

    Abaout inter opponents:

    - Jorge Wilstersmann – A very weak opponent. Should pose no threat at all.

Equador 2 – Should be Emelec. If it really is, no problem at all, it is also a weak team. Liga de Quito (LDU for short), however, is much stronger. LDU is largely favourite to win the current equatorian championship and so, should not be in inter’s group.

Jaguares – I dont know much about the club, but i guessing it should pose no threat also. It is not an expressive mexican team.

Peru 3 – Alianza Lima or Universitario. Alianza Lima is stronger and should be no surprise if they win against Jaguares. In fact, it may be wery well the strongest opponent in the whole group.

Overall, a very easy group, inter should fly trhough it.

    Best regards, matt!
    Saudações coloradas!

I was not good at speaking. But when I saw the contents of this site. I do not have the patience to write this comment. I am liking it a lot. Life is like lift rope. If the wire is missing elevator fall. But it will not fall on a good security system.

I know that the winner of the Copa Libertadores becomes eligible to play in two extra tournaments: the FIFA Club World Cup and the Recopa Sudamericana
